E3 2016

Each June, the games industry travels en masse to Los Angeles for E3, the western world's biggest videogames conference, in order to show and see the hottest gaming titles around.
Ahead of the event there are always rumours that fly around about specific games, consoles or accessories, right up to the doors opening themselves. And considering we've had several press conferences already, there's plenty to talk about that has been confirmed too.
Microsoft, for example, unveiled the Xbox One S console during its media briefing, which is not only 40 per cent smaller than the first-gen model, but comes complete with HDR and 4K video capabilities.
In addition, it had a bigger reveal in the form of Project Scorpio, which it calls the "most powerful games console ever". It is scheduled for a Christmas 2017 release.
Sony, on the other hand, made the biggest noise about its PlayStationVR rather than a new console. It will launch on 13 October, priced at £349. There were plenty of games, naturally, but no other hardware announcements.
We will continue to update this round-up throughout E3 week. Bookmark it if you want to keep abreast of the latest E3 2016 gossip.
The show itself technically opens its doors at 12pm (PT) on Tuesday 14 June. It ends at 5pm on Thursday 16 June.
Show times are (PT):
  • 12pm - 6pm: 14 June
  • 10am - 6pm: 15 June
  • 10am - 5pm: 16 June
In addition, there are always related events on the days prior to the main show opening. Microsoft (Xbox), Sony (PlayStation) and Ubisoft held their events on Monday 13 June. Electronic Arts and Bethesda held theirs earlier, hosting showcases on the Sunday (12 June) ahead of E3.
